Excerpt

We all walk in the shadow of something. A shadow of expectancy, of pride, of ego, of memories. For some that shadow is the companion to the lonely. My shadow has been my company for so many years. It has pushed me to fight and win. It has talked me into doing things and talked me out of them. Tonight, my shadow dances along with me with the peaked interest of my visitors. One in particular. My shadow seeks his across the snow-covered street, but it’s nowhere to be found.

I have come to terms that Max and I are connected. I have come to accept he is bound to my life for now. What I have not come to realize is my need to see him. I search for him among the audience in awe of the window of pleasure and pain. I shut him out with the thick scarlet curtains that adorn my palace, but seek him in the darkness of the night. The moon traveling in search for the light of the sun to give it purpose.

For a long time I haven’t had a purpose besides survive in a world that I know how to control. I use what I have to move and seduce, destruct the power of some for a little while. Make them beg for something only I can give them. It may seem twisted to some, but it gives me a high to know I can control them. It pushes me forward knowing I have the upper hand. The other option is unacceptable.

Now, my mind is starting to rouse with new purpose. I’m familiar with the symptoms, but I can’t diagnose the disease. This purpose can give new meaning or destroy the little I have left. It could shatter that glass window, or keep me enclosed forever.

I shared this with my reader group this weekend. It’s the best way I can sum up this story: I’m sharing with you all a book about heart and soul. A story about growth and healing. I’m giving you a story about real life and the struggles that come tied to the ugliness life offers. It isn’t a happy story. It isn’t pretty and romantic. It’s hopeful. It’s honest, and it’s raw.

I am so looking forward to sharing Samantha’s story with you all! Mark your calendars for July 18th!

Happy Summer!

I love summer break almost as much as I love Thanksgiving (pumpkin pie wins, though). I hope you are all enjoying some warmer weather. It is hot here in South Florida—perfect for beach days.

As many of you know, this summer I am also releasing my sixth book. (When did that happen?!) I still get giddy when I finish a new book. It really never gets old, and part of that is thanks to all of you lovely readers. I get to share my stories with all of you. Red Lights, Black Hearts is different than my other books. It’s honest and raw. I’ve mentioned that before. I hope it makes you reflect and look at situations differently like it did for me. Mostly, I hope you connect with Sam and her story. She is a character that grows so much from beginning to end.

Red Lights, Black Hearts is set to release on July 18th. Keep an eye out for the cover reveal on June 27th. Kari from Cover to Cover Designs hit it out of the park with this one. I am also sharing an exclusive excerpt on my newsletter once my edits are back in. Don’t miss it! You can sign-up here: http://eepurl.com/bm9D0b.

Add Red Lights, Black Hearts to your TBR and check in for the cover reveal here or on any of my social media pages. I hope your summer is off to a great start, and you’re getting some great reading time in!

Sweet on Wilde Cover Reveal

I am so grateful for having the opportunity to live out my dream over and over again as I continue to write more stories for readers to enjoy. I recently came across an old “Notes” I did on Facebook back in 2009—”25 Random Things About Me.” You know, when these things were cool to do. I want to share two things I wrote there.

Number 1 said ” I love writing. It’s the easiest way for me to express myself.” This could not be more true. Ever since I was a teen, writing was what kept me sane. It brought peace and balance into my life. To be able to do that now and share it with the world is amazing.

Number 5 said “I want to publish a book at some point in my life.” Now, I can’t remember if I wrote this before or after a specific scene was playing in my mind and I decided to write it, later thinking it could be a novel. Of course, I thought I had lost it. Am I happy I didn’t give up that dream. It’s been a long road with many lessons, but the best choice I made was to reopen that document from 2009 and write a book.

Now I’m nearing my one year anniversary of my first novel, Perfectly Imperfect, and I’ve just revealed today my cover for me fourth novel. What a feeling. I’m not sure I can describe it in words.

Here is the beauty that will hold Sweet on Wilde, my romantic and humorous novel that I adore.

full-for-cover-reveal

I just want to stare at it. Every cover I’ve had so far describes the story perfectly, and this is no different. It portrays Savannah and Parker’s relationship just how it is; sweet, romantic, and peaceful.

Here’s a steamy, new teaser! 😉

Thank you all for joining me in this journey and I hope to bring more stories to all of you!

Fab Cowboy Recommendations! Jake and Gabe by Susan Fisher-Davis

I know, I know.. I’ve been MIA. I apologize for that. Between writing and getting ready for the release of Resisting You, I’ve been busy. I have however squeezed in time to read some great books! Everyone knows I love a hot cowboy, so what better than a series full of cowboys?! NOTHING! You make be telling yourselves.. Can she stop babbling and tell me about these cowboys already?! Okay, here it goes!

I connected with Susan Fisher-Davis via social media and kept reading snippets of her books and seeing her covers. HOT is all I can say. So I one-clicked Jake (the 1st in the Men of Clifton Montana Series). I FELL IN LOVE. Seriously. I wanted to keep Jake all to myself. Then there’s Gabe, Jake’s brother, (book 2 in the series). I had to one-click him too. Again, I wanted him all for myself. Wyatt is the third brother (his book comes out in the summer and I cannot wait!).

So, while I’ve been writing and working hard on releasing and getting new books, I’ve been sleeping with cowboys that make me swoon big time.

Let me start with Jake. Here are my thoughts about it:

This book was an amazing read. Fast paced and sexy, I was captivated from the beginning. I love cowboys, so I knew I just had to meet Jake and he did not disappoint.

Fisher does a fantastic job creating scenes, emotions, and even suspense. I loved how Becca and Jake’s relationship developed. Their attraction was palpable from the beginning, and it was fun to read how their stubbornness tried to prevent anything from happening between them.

Once they gave in to their true feelings, these two were a hot couple perfect for each other. Jake’s protectiveness and care for Becca when danger presents itself was heartwarming.

The secondary characters were amazing as well, and those Stone brothers are hot. I loved how they’re all involved and developed throughout the story. Excited to continue reading this series and learning more about the characters.
This book is a definite must read! Now can I move to Montana and find myself a cowboy??

So like I said, after I finished Jake I hd a huge book hangover (I may have been moping a bit but don’t tell anyone I said that). I thought, who better to help me move one than Jake’s sexy middle brother? Enter Gabe.

What can I say? I’m a sucker for these Stone brothers. Gabe and Emma’s story is full of love, doubt, and hope. Susan brings us another hot and swoon-worthy book boyfriend in Gabe and I loved it! Although their relationship started kind of backwards, you quickly see that Gabe and Emma are so meant to be together. You have humor mixed with heart warming situations that make you wish you had a hot cowboy by your side.

I truly loved reading as their love blossomed and Emma’s confidence built throughout the story. This was a fun read with mystery and some suspense. Overall, this is a fabulous read with a hot hero and a sassy, sometimes timid heroine.

So it’s only natural that I’m impatiently waiting on Wyatt. The Stone brothers are sexy and protective. You can’t help but fall in love. Of course, Susan doesn’t stop the series at just them. Brody will also have a book coming out soon. He’s not a Stone brother, but when you read Gabe you’ll learn more about Brody and I’m excited to read his story!

I have found a new one-click author I truly enjoy reading and I’m looking forward to reading her other series, Bad Boys of Dry River, Wyoming. The first book is Lucas, and of course, it’s another cowboy series I’m sure won’t disappoint. Make sure to grab your copies today!

Thank you!

As Thanksgiving arrives, we all stop to ponder on the things we are thankful for. I try to make it a habit of thinking of things I am thankful for on a daily basis (blame it on my life coaching background), but sometimes life gets in the way. Today I want to say thanks to all of you. I started off my author journey unsure of what to expect from it. All I knew was that I had a story to write. When I decided to publish, I thought- cool, knock another thing off my bucket list. Well, was I ever surprised.

The support I’ve received has left me speechless. My family has been understanding, some even thinking it’s the coolest thing ever. My friends have been there to hear my story ideas, beta read, and just tell me how awesome this journey is. And without some of those friends, I don’t think I’d be where I am today. I mean, seriously, I owe some of these ladies way more than the occasional drink I buy them- from help choosing cover images, to designing teasers (the million different designs I make before choosing the perfect one), and even editing. The support doesn’t go unacknowledged.

I’ve also met so many amazing people along the way. My fellow authors who have been there for me and helped answer some of my silliest questions (because there’s no such thing as a stupid question right?) THANK YOU! We’re in this together, and it has been a pleasure meeting each and every one of you.

The bloggers who work day and night to get our books out there to readers and help promote us selflessly- WOW. You all rock! I’ve recently had to contact a lot of blogs to help spread our Black Friday sale and sign up for my cover reveal. I was nervous about having to ask them to sign up for two things during the same time. I thought, Here she goes again asking for something. Well, they did not hesitate to sign up for both. Thank you for your kind support and continuous encouragement. It means the world to this small, indie author.

I am grateful for you, my readers, for taking a chance and reading my book. For believing in my words, and allowing them (I hope) to take you on a journey, not only of romance, but of life lessons. I promise to continue bringing you more stories to read!

I hope all of those in the US have a wonderful Thanksgiving with their loved ones. Those of you out of the US, well, it’s almost the weekend! Happy Thursday to all! ❤

 thank you

Wicked Wednesday Recommendation~ The Girl on the Half Shell

I know I’ve been a bit MIA lately.. sorry! Life’s gotten a little crazy with trying to finish up Restoring Us, but I have made some time to read.

Last week I read The Girl on the Half Shell by Susan Ward, and it stole my heart. This book is a definite must read and a five star book for me.

I don’t know where to begin. I have been trying to find the perfect words to describe this book. I don’t think any words I use will do it justice. I absolutely loved this book. It’s brilliant, beautiful, raw.

Susan Ward did an amazing job with this book. Her writing is beautiful, and she creates a story that is honest. This book is a treasure that went straight to my heart. The characters are developed perfectly. You clearly see their emotions, feel their pain and love. They have secrets and troubles they try to escape.

Chrissie is a beautiful, young girl reaching a crossroads in her life. Where does she go after graduating high school? Follow her parents’ path in a musical career, or her best friend to college in California. She is broken, lost, and confused about what she wants. She has also suffered and seen a lot in her young years, holding within her guilt and pain.

Alan is a rock star and musical genius. He is hot! But don’t let the fame fool you, he’s got his secrets, too. He has his own pain to sort through. I fell in love with him! I wanted to reach into the book and pull him out into my world.

These two come together in what is one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read. It touches on the truth of life and emotions. It expresses how difficult it is to let out what we have bottled up inside us and how guilt can drag us down, but finding love and someone to trust opens you to clearly express yourself and see things in a different light- not easily.

The secondary characters were fabulous as well! I loved reading about them and how they interconnect with the story and characters.

This is one story that will stay with me for years to come. I felt like the author took me into the book and had me live each emotion along with the characters. It is heart-wrenchingly beautiful and raw. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series and indulge in more books by Susan Ward.

You can purchase this book here: http://www.amazon.com/Girl-Half-Shell-Series-Book-ebook/dp/B00KBK4S98/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It’s also on Kindle Unlimited! How great is that? Girl on half shell teaser 2
