It’s that time of the week again! I’ve got a new recommendation for you, Acts of Desperation by Emerson Shaw. Acts of Desperation is a great book that combines the element of surprise, suspense, and love.

Sember is a lawyer who has been burned by her boyfriend. She is brave enough to leave him behind and find true happiness. She is also dealing with a lot of stress helping her sister through her divorce, while trying to maintain professional distance to not interfere in her bias opinion.

Enter Jax, one hot lawyer and strong hero! Jax and Sember are immediately attracted to each other, and it’s fun to watch their relationship unfold when they are thrown into the same professional environment. Jax has his own past to deal with and secrets to keep. As they begin to unfold and come to light, dangers arise. 

Emerson combines all these elements in a well fabricated web that flows and works together in an intricate plot. I loved most characters, but there were a couple I truly despised- what a fabulous way of portraying villains. The author does a great job in creating scenarios and personalities that make you truly get to know the characters and connect with them. 

I had heard great things about this book, and they were all true. It kept me on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next.
